Is torrenting such a black art, morally reprehensible or just unsafe where you're from? Cause over here, if it ain't DRM'd to heck, everyone is torrenting everything. Or at the very least, passing around copied discs.
In about 7 years at my faculty, I've not seen one student with a legit version of either Autodesk or Adobe products. I did see one guy given a stern talking to by a professor regarding the STUDENT VERSION watermark on his work. Poor fella had to do it all over since the student version ain't compatible with anything else/leaves watermark/something.
Please don't understand this as me suggesting you download software illicity, just genuinely curious. A big part of me actually wants to see this being policed more, since I love open source software and it's bloody hard to get people to use it, since most don't care about principles/ideologies and the commercial versions are usually better and more stable and more compatible for whatever they need them. "But I can just pirate the familiar Photoshop/Illustrator/Autocad instead of using the new and strange GIMP/Inkscape/Draftsight."
...is what they say. And it's hard not to agree with them. Especially when the open source stuff can be clunky and unstable as all hell, and time consuming interfaces as well as project consuming crashes are something one really does not need when studying architecture at our faculty.

From what I can gather, the torrented version gives you the pink truck bug. Why?

I have seen the torrented game in action, but no pink trucks anywhere. *shrug*
The pink truck bug sounds like something put into the game to prevent copying, so I'd say it was improperly cracked or not at all, but this is guesswork.
